Favorite Thing Friday.

SippyCupChroniclesFavoriteThingFriday

Again a few days late.

My favorite things this week is Starbucks Eggnog Latte. So happy that they are back at the stores, but I hate how it is for a limited time. I did find out how to make it so I might just have to start making them myself since I have an eggnog recipe as well.

Saturdays 5 top Laughs

Its a day late, but yesterday was a travel day for us and I didn't have time to link up to Melissa at The Mommyhood Chronicles.

5.) Aiden apparently is not a fan of red lights. Neither are a lot of people. One time while driving we hear him say from the back seat, "That stupid light is changing red. Now we have to stop." Of course we don't, or at least try not to say the word "stupid" in our house, so we are thinking that he learned it from daycare.

4.) On our flight out to Detroit there was a little bit of turbulence. Aiden grabs the arm rests and then says " Look Daddy!! Its like a roller coaster.!! 3.) A few minutes later he says when we were landing "its really bumpy. Everyone hold on tight!!"

2.) After getting ready for bed we had a chair pulled over to the sink so he could brush his teeth. Seth asks him what he is doing. " I'm looking in the mirror. I'm very handsome!"

1.) We were heading over to Starbucks and rather then waiting at the light I got out to walk over and then Seth would meet me in the parking lot. Fooling around, after I crossed the seat Seth did a little toot on the horn and said to Aiden that I was working the corner. Aiden then said in a scolding voice, "Daddy!!! That's not that funny."

Happy Thanksgiving!!

All summer every since we planned to head out to Detroit I have been looking forward to Thanksgiving. We also decided back in September that Seth and I were going to participate in the 5K Turkey Trot race. I was excited about it since it was our first race ever and it gave us something to work for as far as exercising at home. I will admit that half way into the training that I started to get really discouraged because training was not going as well as I was hoping it would, but I stuck to it and I was determined to try my hardest and do the best that I could. I revised my race time goal and worked towards that.

It was pretty chilly come race time. I think it was about 35* outside and the wind was bitter when it hit you. It was pretty motivating to see all the other people out there and it was quite entertaining to see some of the costumes that people wear for this event.

 Getting ready for the race.

My official race time was 41mins. My goal was 45mins and it probably would have been shorter because I thought I had crossed over the finish line timer so I started walking. Afterwards we grabbed a snack and then headed back to the house to start prep for the big meal.

Wiped out before we even had the big turkey meal.  I'm not surprised that he fell asleep because he didn't get a nap the day before and he was up at 5:30am that day so we could get ready for the race.

Tech family doesn't go anywhere without their phones.

Little Miss playing with Webb.

The meal was great and it was even better with family. And I didn't even over eat which is always a good thing. Hope yours was just as great.

Leaving on a jet plane

Well not on a jet plane, but just a regular commercial passenger plane. Its Rebecca's first plane ride and its been a year and a half since Aiden has been on a plane. Packing has been pretty interesting. I thought I could do it all with just 2 large suitcases, but as it turns out we needed a third medium size suitcase as well. I guess that is not too bad for 4 people for a 5 day trip. One of those being a 9mos baby and we all know all the crap..err.. gear they need.

Our flight was at 4:30pm out of Providence, RI as we were able to get a direct flight straight to Detroit that way. I'd rather not have to deal with layovers with 2 children. Aiden had his own seat which was great and Rebecca sat on my lap. As I was hoping she slept the whole way there since she didn't get her afternoon nap. The two weeks prior to the trip I made a craft with Aiden that was a count down to the plane ride as we would not be home to do a count down to turkey day. everyday Aiden put on another tail feather on his turkey so now it is a full feathered turkey. Looks pretty good.

Rebecca was a little cranky on take off because she was over due for a nap, but once we took off she was able to settle in and fell asleep on me. She woke up about 20 mins before we landed and was a little cranky, but at that point she was also hungry. Overall she did really well for her first plane ride.

Arts & Crafts Time

One of the presents that Aiden received for his birthday was a Cars sand art project. His friend Hayley from The Mommyhood Chronicles gave it to him along with a Cars puzzle. There have been some many times that he has asked me to open it up for him and when I looked at it I didn't see an arts and crafts project for him to so I saw bag of sand that could get everywhere and make a huge mess that I didn't feel like cleaning up. However there are only so many times that you can push off a request. So when he finally asked me again to do the craft I finally said that he could. He actually did pretty well and didn't make that much of a mess.

Pouring oh so carefully.
