Off to the Wizz...Water Wizz

A few weekends ago we head to our local water park; Water Wizz- You may recognize it from such movies as “Grown Ups”.  It’s a smaller park that I think is perfect for kids. Last year we went, but Rebecca was so small and it was a little bit of work with her. This year she was more into everything. It took her some time to get used to things, but once she got going she was having a blast. Aiden didn’t even want to leave when it came time to go home for afternoon naps. Aiden even took a nap that day as he is starting to wean off of naps. In total we spent about 3.5hrs there which is a good deal of time with smaller kids. Older kids you can make a whole day of it just about.  The morning before we headed there I grabbed some water cameras to take with us since I knew that I wanted to get photos of the kids in action without killing my own camera in the process. Aiden even took a few pictures.

Southwick Zoo 2012

Last Sunday I met up with a fellow mom, Melissa for a small play date at the Southwick Zoo in Mendon, MA. We had been trying to coordinate a playdate/get together for a while and something always seemed to come up. Originally we were going to go to the Roger Williams Zoo, but then Melissa mentioned Southwick because of the rides. I was on board with that and the kids both love rides. We ended up getting there a little earlier so we walked around and looked at a few of the animals to kill time, but it was pretty hot and a little humid, plus since I got fried at the beach I was doubly hot from the heat coming off my burnt back. The mist tents were my friend that day. Aiden loved walking through those and I ran through a few times with Rebecca.

I took Aiden into the petty area where you can feed some goats and last year he had a lot of fun doing it, but this year he was a little hesitant because the goats where pretty in your face about trying to get the food. Once I gave Aiden some food he would throw it on the ground so they would leave him alone. So much for that photo op, but in his defense they were all over me as well. Some were trying to stand up on me to get the food so I know that it they did that to Aiden then he would have been on his butt on the ground. It’s funny how a year ago he was more adventurous and this year he is starting to realize that certain things can actually hurt you.
After the goats we played at the playground there for a little bit so we could sit and rest in the shade and just waited until Melissa and her family got to the park. Once I got her text we headed towards the front and ended up just heading over to the rides. Aiden and Rebecca both had a blast on the rides. There were a couple of rides that she and Zane wanted to go on, but they were too small so we mainly just suck around the rides that they could go on and let them do those ones a few times in a row. Aiden and Hayley had fun running back and forth between a few rides. There was also a bouncy house that Aiden didn’t want to get out of.  We did that for a while before getting lunch and calling it a day because Rebecca was just done. It was 2:30. She had been up since 8:30am and was rearing to go for a nap. I think she fell asleep before we even got out of the parking lot. Aiden stayed up the whole ride home, but ended up napping for about 1.5hrs. It was nice. Seth and I took a small snooze as well on the couch since it had been such a busy weekend. I almost wished that we had a third day off just to recoup from the weekend. Next weekend we have our niece’s birthday party in the afternoon and luckily we don’t have anything planned for Sunday. We need a down day.

Onset Beach 2012

Last Saturday we went to Onset Beach with pretty much Seth’s whole immediate family minus Jeff since he was traveling back to the States from China. I love it when we have the times to get the whole family together and the cousins can play together. Aiden had fun digging in the same with Naomi. I swear if those 2 were not cousins they would marry each other when they got older. They love to see each other and play together. He was also so excited to see his cousins Brandon and Justin. He and Justin gave each other the biggest hugs when they saw each other at the each.  Aiden also enjoyed walking around in the water with his cousin Amanda looking for hermit crabs. She found a few of them and there was a pretty large one as well that she had found. He wanted no part in touching them though. I think one of the cutest parts of Aiden and Naomi for the day was when they were sharing a Spiderman popsicle. It was dripping so much down Aiden’s arm from the heat, but he didn’t care. He was holding it out for her to take bites.

Seth, Josh and Brandon played Frisbee and catch with a football in the water. Brandon really enjoyed that since he plays football and also baseball. Rebecca complained for a while when we first put her in the water, but then warmed up to it with Seth tossing her around,  though she wanted NO part of the sand. Every time her foot went in it she had to lift it up to try to wipe it off or she looked at you with such a puss on her face as if to ask you to wipe the sand off. She just does not like the stuff and with that she didn’t want anything to do with digging in it either. At home she stands outside the sand box to shovel the sand into a bucket. One day she will enjoy the beach to its fullest. Though she did do a full on face plant into the sand because she leaned too far to the side in her chair. It was hard not to laugh at that one.

Don't mind if I pour a little water on your head cousin Justin.
Still not a pan of the sand. She was just not having it.
